The Beethovenhaus Baden

Ludwig van Beethoven regularly took treatment in Baden. In the summer resort town of Emperor Franz and his family, the nobility and middle class, including the great composer’s patrons, bustled about.
Beethoven stayed at Rathausgasse 10 in the summers of 1821, 1822 and 1823. During this time he wrote essential parts of the 9th Symphony.

Since autumn 2014, this Beethoven House has housed a new kind of museum about the person and musical genius Beethoven. Visitors experience the life and work of the composer in a completely new and surprising way. The Biedermeier-style living quarters provide an insight into the composer’s life and surroundings in the town of Baden. In addition, his compositions that were written in Baden, including the Ninth Symphony, can be experienced and heard in a special way.

The Beethovenhaus Baden: an authentic place of pilgrimage for all those in search of the musical genius.
